Dr
Henry Duncan had been given tremendous gifts. Of all his skills
and interests, geology and science were his passions.
His interest in geology led to identification of the
first quadruped fossil footprints to be found in Britain. He presented
a paper to the Royal Society in Edinburgh on the discovery of the
footprints at Corncockle Quarry, near Lochmaben.
A small sample of these footprints is exhibited at
the museum. In the picture opposite are the footprints of Chelichnus
Duncan Owen.
